When you work with a new horse, it’s important to make sure he’s comfortable moving his body around.

If you’re bringing a new horse to your barn, you’ll want to test his skill level to see what bad habits he might have and see what he excels at. Testing body control is an important factor because it allows you to move your horse’s body position around to help him stay collected and in frame. Bud Lyon shows you some of the drills he likes to do when he’s working on body control with a new horse.
