 If your breakfast cereal loses its crunch, take it to the barn and offer your horse a sampling of Cheerios or Kix. Or add apple and carrot peelings to your horse’s grain rotation.

—H&R reader Donna Lindahl or Knob Noster, Missouri, adds this treat idea: “When bread begins to get a little stale, I quarter the slices and lay them on the counter to completely dry. Then I bag the dry tasty horse snacks and bring them to the barn.”
