To Do This Month: August

Have you checked these items off your summer to-do list?

Clean water receptacles. Hot weather promotes growth of organisms that create green slime in water troughs, tubs, and buckets. Scrub and refill with fresh, clean water.

Create firebreaks. Get a jump on fire season before it gets a jump on you. Mow grass, weeds, and brush within 20 to 30 feet of all buildings, pens, and other structures.

Replenish salt sources. Horses step up their salt consumption during the hot months. Check the last salt blocks you set out and replace if necessary.
