When you’re first teaching your horse to trailer or are working with a difficult horse, it’s easiest if you have at least two people to help with loading. You want to start with one person standing on the trailer holding your horse’s lead and one person behind and slightly off to the side of your horse. The person holding the lead should keep your horse pointed at the trailer but not pull on the lead. The second person will send your horse forward up the ramp towards the person on the trailer. If your horse tries to go backward, left or right, the person behind the horse should apply pressure to get your horse to move forward and walk back on the trailer.
