Plan for weather: If freezing temps are part of your winter world, safeguard your horses’ water supply now by wrapping exposed pipes with electric heat tape. If mud’s your wintertime issue, install drains or gravel areas before rains come.

Schedule boosters: Check with your vet to see if vaccination booster shots are due for your horses, especially for respiratory diseases such as flu and rhino (EHV-1).
