If you follow reining, you may have heard the name Ms Dreamy come up several times throughout the year. And if you follow Horse&Rider on Facebook or frequent HorseandRider.com you’ve definitely heard the name Ms Dreamy.
The 9-year-old AQHA/APHA double-registered mare is no stranger to the winner’s circle, winning the 2014 AQHA World Championship in amateur reining; the 2013 NRHA Non Pro Futurity L2 reserve championship; and the 2016 NRBC L3 non-pro championship. However, it was this year that Ms Dreamy gained international attention after Dan Huss rode Ms Dreamy to the Tryon 2018 Reining Test co-championship, securing their spot for the 2018 World Equestrian Games, and is now up for the USEF International Horse of the Year, and she’s the only Western horse represented in the category.

During the World Equestrian Games, Ms Dreamy and Huss helped the U.S. Reining Team earn their fifth consecutive team gold medal while placing second individually in the team competition (behind teammate Cad McCutcheon). They finished their outstanding WEG with the individual silver medal—making Ms Dreamy the first mare to individually medal for the U.S.
Out of a field of 61 combinations in the WEG reining team competition, she was one of only 12 mares and one of only four mares in the individual competition. Not only was she the first mare to medal individually for the United States, she was one of only 12 mares that competed in the team competition at WEG, and one of four mares that competed in the individual event.
After the completion of WEG, in a press conference Huss mentioned that they would take Ms Dreamy to the AQHA World Show to finish up the year, and then retire her.

It was there the duo went viral during the senior reining pattern in the finals, where Huss’ bridle broke during the start of his first large circle to the left. Huss came to the decision to reach down and grab the broken bridle before finishing the remainder of his pattern completely bridleless.
