Softening Up a Horse

Watch Brad Barkemeyer on Horse&Rider OnDemand work on softening up a young horse before asking him to stop.

In this horse training drill, Brad Barkemeyer realized his horse wasn’t staying soft in his hand. Therefore, instead of doing his original fence drill he went back to the basics. Barkemeyer works instead at the lope and worked on softening his horse up before moving on to the next step.
