How to Submit Your Photo to Al Dunning’s ‘How’s My Riding?’

Learn how to submit your photo for a chance to be featured in Al Dunning's monthly 'How's My Riding?' department in Horse & Rider magazine.

In this new section in Horse & Rider, Team H&R member and renowned horseman Al Dunning critiques readers’ riding skills, based on what he sees in photos of them in action.

Check out this example from our January ’09 issue. Try to match your photo to this image, as closely as possible.

Photo Specifications

  • Rider must be in Western tack and attire. (No ball caps, please.)
  • Photo must show a left-side profile view.
  • Photo must be horizontal in shape, not vertical.
  • Preferably, horse should be jogging/trotting or loping, or performing a maneuver such as a sidepass or backing.

To Submit Photos
Email photos to [email protected], and include “How’s My Riding?” in the subject line. For digital images, please submit in the highest quality possible; ideally at 300 dpi, 9 x 12 or 14 x 16. Or mail photos to our editorial office: Horse & Rider, “How’s My Riding?” 2520 55th St, #210, Boulder, CO 80301.
